Kovalam means, "A grove of coconut trees". Located on the Malabar coast along the Kerala shoreline, Kovalam is one of the most popular beach hangouts in India. The beaches of Kovalam are a tourist's dream come true.
The beaches are divided into 3 parts. The southern most beach is the most popular, called the Lighthouse beach.
The middle beach is called Hawah. In the mornings, this beach is a base for local fisherfolk. The least popular is the northern most beach, called the Samudra.
